How to progress to underwear

DS has been working on pt since end of Dec right before he turned 3. we haven't been really pushy. He easily goes first thing in morning and before bath. Never poop. This week he started going pee at daycare and has been dry for 2 days yeah! Ques is when do i get him in underwear? He freaks out and doesn't want to wear them. Doesn't matter which kind/character. Do i just keep the diaper on and be happy that its dry? I don't mind this taking longer, I just want him to have a healthy outlook on potty!

My DS just PT as well, once he started using it consistently we moved from diapers to pull ups, and now at home we do underwear, we just let him go and pick out his own and tried asking him all the time if he wanted to wear them. Now he likes to wear them around at home, I still use a pull ups for going out just in case we can't get to a potty or he forgets to ask. HTH

We just put him in underwear one day. We took him to the store, let him pick out some packages, and that was that. He wears pull ups for naps and diapers for bed time, but other then that underwear all the rest of the time.

He has accidents sometimes, and we deal with them, but it was a lot easier to bite the bullet and make the switch and PT from there.

Ok sorry I thought the PT board was separate from the toddler 24+ month board? My issue is that he won't wear the underwear-refuses. Anyone else?

DS never had a problem with underwear and now he hates wearing a diaper or pullup even a bed time when he needs it. My DS is very opinionated though and I've found he's generally more cooperative if he thinks it's his idea. If that doesn't work then I present new things as though there is no alternative. If you really feel like he's not ready to give up the diapers then you could try pullups and try to convince him they are diapers they just go on different. That's at least a step forward. this may work! I was also thinking of putting it on his teddy...teddy went potty first too:)

Success!! I put them on teddy and then put them over his diaper, no problem! Baby steps:)

Sorry I missed that part of your OP. I like the idea of the putting it over the diaper, that way he can get used to the idea.

We also bribed with chocolate.

We did the three day potty training method and by day three my 22 month old daughter only had one accident.
