Hello Ladies,
I need some advice. My first daughter (now over 2) started sleeping through the night around four months, on her own for the most part. She would go to bed at 7:00 pm, wake around 5:00 am and have a feeding, and go back to sleep until 7:00 am.
My second daughter is five ad a half months old. She wants to eat every two hours during the day still, and at night she wants to go to sleep anywhere between 6-7:00 pm (I try to make her last until 7:00 but that doesn't always work). I feed her right before she goes to sleep. She has absolutely no problem going to sleep on her own. I lay her down fully away, turn her musical crib thing on, and leave the room. She's asleep within five minutes, and I very rarely have to go back in to comfort her.
For the past month or so, she has been waking at 9:00, 12:00, 2-3:00, 5:00, and then is up and ready to be awake for the day at 6:45. When she wakes up, she is clearly wanting to nurse. I have tried not feeding her and she just screams until I do. Once I feed her and burp her, she is still awake, I put her down, turn her music on, and she falls asleep on her own. Sometimes she is wet so I change her (in the dark so I don't wake her any more).
At our four month check, the Pediatrician said that if she woke up a lot at night we could try rice cereal before bed and see if that helped. We did that for one week and she woke up just as often as when I just nursed her before bed.
Any suggestions? She's a healthy weight, and she eats plenty during the day. Should I try to wean her from a couple of her nighttime feedings, or keep feeding on demand, even if it is 3-4 times a night? She is a great nurser, and I don't want to mess anything up, but I am so tired! I can't just take a nap when she does because I have another child to take care of, so it's not like I can catch up on my sleep at all.
Thank you so much for your suggestions.
