1st Trimester

Seriously out of breath....

okay, so I know I am only 8 weeks but I am already clearing out the room we are to use for the nursery. It's my craft room, which, if any of you are crafty, you know it can accumulate...quickly. Anyway, I am condensing and organizing and it seems like I have to stop and breathe every 5 minutes. I know pregnancy takes it outta' you but geez. I am glad to be starting this early because once I get it finished and painted and all that, I'm going to have to set it up again with bigger stuff. Has anyone else felt this winded, this early?

  • I'm in the same boat. Things that would never get me short of breath do now. It's crazy.

  • I got this way in the very beginning of my pregnancy as well. I couldn't walk up a flight of steps without having to either stop midway through to breath or go all the way up them and feel like I'm having an asthma attack. In my experience it passed when I got into my second trimester, but I heard that it goes back to the out of breath state when you get into your third because baby is so big and compresses your lungs and such. I think that's why everyone says the second trimester is the best; because the morning sickness goes away, the out of breath goes away and you get a whole bunch of energy. I would say just take it slow. If you feel winded sit down for a few minutes and take a couple of big deep breaths. Good luck =)
  • I starting noticing this about the start of week 5 and thought I was crazy... I become so short of breath, too!
  • mine is just starting to go away, the baby sucks so much out of you early on.

  • YES!!  We just moved and, when we were packing, I had to sit down every half hour or so.  It was really annoying.  My mom's here helping me unpack now 'cause it makes me dizzy just thinking about where to put things.  Hang in there!
  • This is me too! And unfortunately I own a three story home and work on the second floor down the lonnnngest hallway you've ever seen. I feel so out of shape.

Why is that? I am experiencing the same thing and thought something was wrong. I am just curious why this happens medically?
