We have the crib, dresser, and changing table, but they still haven't been put together. We have bought some clothes here and there too, and I've received some little things like burp cloths as gifts already. My mom bought fabric for the curtains, but she still has to make them. She also bought some room decorations, but I think she might be giving them to us at the shower.

ETA: We also have a glider, but we didn't buy that for baby; we already had it. Oh, and I also have a diaper bag.
  • We inherited our crib, mattress, and changing pad from a friend, so we've had it since before I was even pregnant! Soon after finding out we were expecting, we bought a bookshelf and a dresser which will double as a changing table.  We finally bought our glider yesterday, but it's a custom Dutailier and will take 8-10 weeks to arrive.  We have her going home outfit, and a few others I couldn't resist buying, plus a bunch of hand-me-downs and we have bought a couple boxes of diapers and some other items for changing time.  As for everything else (travel system, pack n play, bouncer, etc.) we've registered for them and hope to get them as gifts, but if not, we'll buy them in the month before she arrives.  For now, I'm working on nursery decor.

  • I'm glad you think so, but when we see friends it always feels like they say "Do you have X?" and I'm like "Crap, no!" LOL :) There is always something to get next it seems!

First baby for us... We have:

Crib/mattress, dresser, one car seat/base, stroller, diaper bag for me and hubby, some random things given to us by a friend (bumbo, couple of slings, playmat, shopping cart seat cover), some clothes, books, couple of blankets.

Wow, sounds like you are basically there!

Good point, I should probably hold off on some of the baby items until after the shower.

That's awesome that your mom can make things like curtains for you. It would be awesome to have something custom like that for your nursery.

You've got a lot! We bought:

    - Crib

    - Dresser

    - Crib mattress

    - Car seat base

We've gotten as gifts and hand-me-downs so far:

    - Car seat

    - Several onesies and blankets

    - Stuffed animals/hanging crib soothers

    - A few bottles

We still need a ton of stuff, but we thought we'd buy ourselves the big essentials and hope that the rest comes to us. I feel like I've got an embarrassing number of things on my registry right now, but most of it is little (like pacifiers or baby spoons).

That's so awesome that you got hand me downs to help too!

Wow, inheriting a crib is a great cost savings and such a nice gift!

  • I am a STM and we are having another boy so we are able to reuse all of DS1's clothes, infant carseat, infant bathtub, bouncer & some of his old bibs, burp cloths, & bath towels... hmm... Ergo carrier, tons of recieving blankets (which you don't use much lol), Glider (also didn't use much), Bumbo, Boppy, playmat, will probably use DS1's changing pad as he is getting big for his, but we'll see. No biggie if I need to buy a new one.

We we have purchased: 2nd car mirror, 2nd monitor camera, 2nd sound machine, 2nd diaper genie, crib furniture (DS1's is a convertible so he keeps all his), mattress, mattress pads, curtains for room, some new bath towels/wash cloths, double stroller, new bottles, NB diapers, new swing (DS1's broke or we'd reuse it), hand sanitizer/lotion/rash creme/wipes container for babys room & diaper caddy with all items as well, closet hangers..

What we still need: Bedding & room accessories, Ju Ju Be BFF diaper bag, dividers for bureas,  K'tan wrap, maybe an extra drying rack, maybe a new set of breathable bumpers depending on the bedding I get.

DH is painting the nursery this weekend and I am hoping he will assemble the furniture this week. Then I will be able to rewash DS1's clothes and get them put away. DS1 was a preemie so I am hoping to get everything done and ready way in advance. That means getting a hospital bag packed for us and an overnight bag for DS1, along with instructions and a list of things to put in last minute that I can't pack in advance (toothbrushes etc). I feel pretty accomplished though!
