Max was born on March 6th, weighing 8lb 2oz. He was 2 weeks early so we were surprised when I went to my 38 week appt and was told to go straight to labor and delivery from there.  I was alone so was really scared.  Once DH made it to the hospital contractions had stopped and doctor wanted to send me home since I wasn't progressing and was 2 weeks early.  She said to walk for a bit and she'd check me again in an hour if we wanted to stay.  We did and still no progress so she said we could walk more and then she'd check again in a couple hours.  my contractions got closer together and very painful so we were happy then that something was finally happening.  I was in tons of pain at that point and asking for te epidural so my nurse got my doctor.  She checked me again and I was 9 cm dilated.  Suddenly my water broke and she said to start pushing.  Then my baby's heart rate started to rapidly drop so they said we'd have to do an emergency c section to get him out fast.  They took me away and DH said I was gone for 2 hours because I was having trouble breathing and wasn't stabilized.  then they brought my mom and Dh in my recovery room and it was 5 more hours before I got to see my baby.  he was in the nicu getting observed.  then his pediatrician came down and said he was perfectly healthy and was headed to the well baby nursery.  Best words I've ever heard.  The moment they brought my son in I felt such an overwhelming love and relief that we had both survived he birth.  recovery for me is going great and after 4 days in the hospital we are going home so I get to be with my daughter and our whole family will be together.  The whole experience was quite traumatic and not something that I want to do again.  I am very happy with my two beautiful children and feel so blessed to have them. good luck to all the new mamas and those waiting for LOs.  like everyone says, it is all so worth it!

    thanks all! We had our first night home as a family last night and it was great.  My daughter was so happy to have me home and Max ate and slept well his first night.  So blessed to have my family!
