infant boy ear piercing?

My neighbor asked my opinion on getting her 4 month old sons ears pierced. Shows how old or out of the loop I am, but it never occured to me to pierce a baby boys ears. I think it's a moms choice, that's what I told her and I honestly believe it is. I don't think it would be my personal choice. Like I said it never occured to me. Thoughts? Figured it's a good topic of conversation and I'm curios to see how common it is.

let her know that even if he is in all blue and wearing a sign that reads "I'm a BOY", strangers will always comment on him being a little girl. If she wants to ignore these comments or defend each one then tell her to go for it.

(I wouldn't do it, but i also wouldn't pierce ears if i had a little girl)

I would wait until he is older (at least 12) and leave the decision up to him. But personally I am not a fan of boys having their ears pierced.

This is my own thoughts regarding my own child, but moms are gonna do what they want, so I told her its her own choice as a mom. I didn't want to come off judgy or rude since I am old and don't know what the trend is with that these days. She's 21 I'm 35....there's a big difference in our styles naturally.

I wouldn't pierce my son's ears. But then again I also wouldn't pierce my daughter's ears either.

oh hell no.... I wouldnt but like OP said that's a parents perogative. If my son wants his done later I'm fine with that, but that is not a choice I would make for a kid that young, specially a boy.

I wouldn't, but I wouldn't pierce a baby girl's either.

I could care less if other people's babies have pierced ears, boy or girl.

No, I would not pierce my son's ears. I did, however, pierce my DD's ears when she was a baby.

I don't think you're old or out of the loop. I have never ever heard of anyone wanting to pierce their baby boy's ears. I think that's ridiculous. If I have a son I would never pierce their ears as a baby and if he really really wanted his ears pierced I would probably make him wait until he were 18. I'm not a fan of boys having earrings. I did pierce DD's ears as a baby because she's a girl. (I ended up having to take the earrings out because we kept having issues with them though.) If we ever have another girl I will not be piercing her ears and will be waiting until she asks to have them done.
