Sleep help!

So little girl has decided lately that some days she just doesn't want to sleep... Lilah has been on such a strict napping schedule because I teach at a cyber school from home, and my schedule is SO not flexible.  Last week she started waking up at 6:30/6:15. We went away for an overnight last Friday, and since then her entire sleep schedule has been crap.  She has been such a good sleeper, but started having night terrors again, and up around 4 every night.  Today we made it to 5:30, but she was WIDE AWAKE. I rocked her for a bit, and then put her back in bed.

Nap times have been awful.  Usually she goes down at 9, and sleeps till 10:30/11 ish, and takes another nap at 1.  My classes are at 9, 10, 11 and 1 so this worked really well for me.  The last few days however, when I put her down at 9, she has been playing in bed btw any where from 9:30-10:45. I feel terrible that she's in bed that long, but she used to sleep for that period of time. Everything was pushed back today, and she still slept for  2 hours each nap.  Oiy!

I know she is working on getting 2 teeth- 2 others just broke through. She shouldn't be going through a leap, we just finished one up.  Someone PLEASE tell me this is a phase! Is there anything else I can do to help her sleep better?

Re: Sleep help!

  • I don't have any answers for you... I'm sorry you're going through that! I was going to suggest a growth spurt... maybe it's another one? Try to keep her as active as possible during the day to mentally and physically stimulate her. Is she napping too much in the afternoon? Do you do a calming bath routine? Those are all my suggestions. Hope that helps! Good Luck, hang in there!

Thanks for your help.  Its so hard to keep her incredibly active during the day because I work from home, and can't really stop what I'm doing (gosh I hate saying that!) but I teach, and am expected to be working nearly the whole day.  The working mommy guilt is killing me.  She did sleep for 2 1/2 hours this morning for a nap, so that was awesome. I hope it keeps up! A growth spurt is a possibility! I will keep an eye on that and see what happens.
