We're getting ready to move DS from his infant seat to a RF convertible seat. We're probably going to get a Britax Roundabout or an Evenflo Sureride for my car since that's the one he's in most of the time.
He is in DH's car some of the time as well as my mom's occasionally. I was thinking about getting either the Evenflo Tribute or the Cosco Scenera for DH's car (and my mom's if we decide to get a separate seat for her car rather than just moving a seat from one of our cars). Any experience with any of these? Advantages? Disadvantages? Thanks!
Re: Convertible carseat question (XP Nurseries & Baby Gear)
I have both. I bought a Cosco Scenera for my mom's car just for emergencies. We haven't had to use it yet but it was an easy install (we did forward facing since I know my mom can't handle getting him in RF and it should really only be for emergencies) and he seemed to fit in well. We have a Britax Roundabout RF in my husband's car, which is a 2012 Ford Focus. It's a good seat for that car as it has a pretty short shell and there isn't a ton of room in the car but my son is going to grow out of it fast for that reason, too (he's already 33 1/2 inches and nearing the top RF). Oddly, the leg room isn't bad, especially in comparison to the Britax Marathon that I also had and absolutely hated and got rid of. We only really use his car for daycare trips which is less than a mile away so the seat doesn't have to be luxurious. The added bonus of my Roundabout is that it got clearanced out at Target and I bought it for $59 so that makes it a lot better of a seat!
We use my car the most and, since I had the room and the need for the best seat in that car, we got the Clek Foonf. It's a great fit for my son, he'll be able to rear face a lot longer with the high height and weight limits and the safety features are second to none-- it's built like a tank! However, if you have a smaller car, forget it. It's a huge seat when rear facing and will keep you from ever having a passenger again.
I realize it was not on your list, but I have the Evenflo Symphony and I love it. The straps are easy to adjust, the whole thing is easy to take apart and watch. DD love sitting in it, and we were able to get it super secure in our Dodge Durango. I also like how much it reclines for rear facing, and the fact that she can use it for up to 100lbs. Earlier today I was thinking how much I wanted to brag on DD's car seat.
Good luck figuring out what to get.
P.S. The seat is pretty easy to move and we swap it back and forth from my Durange and DH's Malibu.
I just ordered a Britax Advocate from Amazon ... way cheaper there than anyone else. Really hope it's as good as they say
Yeah, they were end of the season close outs and I think mine might have even been an online return. I've never seen it close to that price anywhere ever again. Target does weird things with online stuff when it comes to pricing. I bought a Jeep umbrella stroller in the store for $3, regular $49 on the website. I ended up giving it as a baby gift to a guy friend at work with a Jeep and he thought it was awesome. He's an IT guy and now I get fantastic service!
