I am seeing so many mixed reviews on being admitted. Some are getting induced at 1cm some are being told to go home at 5cm. Can someone please enlighten me on when to finally go?! Even my OB has told me conflicting things!
- Bleeding like a period, not just spotting/bloody show
- No fetal movement
It will depend on your hospital if they decide to keep you there or send you home. Sometimes the contractions will tapper off instead of getting stronger and basically you stop progressing. It doesn't really matter how dilated you are if your contractions stop. Most hospitals will make you stay if your water has broken though.
I was admitted at 1 cm, but the reason was because my contractions were 2 minutes apart. My water hasn't broken yet and I hadn't lost my mucus plug yet both happened while admitted.
I had contractions 3 minutes apart for hours... But was only dilated to a 2 and not progressing so I was sent home. Then a few days later I still had the same contractions but dilated to a 5 and they kept me.
I was admitted at 6 with consistent painless contractions. They stopped when I was at 7cms. They kept me and broke my water. LO is my third baby, and I have a history of fast labors... He was born 45 mins after my water broke, and I think my history played into their decision. I was 38w5d.

Excited to welcome a third child in March of 2013!
I was admitted at a fingertip dilated! lol. I was having regular contractions, the OB really felt that it was labor and that it was just slow going, and I live about 40 minutes from the hospital. In his words "I don't want you driving all the way home, having your water break, and have to turn right back around- lets monitor you over night"....sure enough by the next morning I was 2-3 cms and progressing.

Re: When were you admitted?
My Dr orders are to go if:
- My water breaks
- Contractions are 4-5 min apart for an hour
- Bleeding like a period, not just spotting/bloody show
- No fetal movement
