Babies: 3 - 6 Months

DD hates DH!

I need to ask this here, did any of your babies have this issue??? My DD seriously will not tolerate my DH right now. He gets like thirty seconds holding her before she starts wailing. We could time it, no lie. It would be comical if it wasn't so distressing! I ebf so I know that is part of it but seriously, I feel like I am never going to be able to leave the house without her and he feels so left out... Did anyone deal with this? When did it get better? DID it get better??

  • My DS is the exact same way with my DH. It is very distressing and DH is getting so upset about it. I would love to hear if and when it gets better too.

  • DD absolutely hates my wife. She always screams when she tries to hold her. On the other side, DS loves her!

  • My DH and I take turns putting out DS to bed. He is a little over 6 months and he just started to tolerate my DH putting him down. He would cry and cry during the story and once he was in his crib. He would be great if it was me. I think it helped that we take turns.
  • Our first DD who is now 5 was just like this as is our now almost 4 month old DD3. They typically only like Dh if he is feeding them but other than that they both hated or hate him. Our 5 year old started tolerating him more when she was eating solids since she wasn't EBF all the time. She didn't mind him giving her food but still sort of wanted me for comfort.

Now DD3 is the same way she screams when he does anything with her. I tell him it will pass as it did with DD1 but he still gets upset about it.

I promise it does get better it just takes some time.

    Hope I helped !!

  • Our first DD1 who is now 5 was just like this as is our now almost 4 month old DD3. They typically only like Dh if he is feeding them but other than that they both hated or hate him. Our 5 year old started tolerating him more when she was eating solids since she wasn't EBF all the time and eating solids and getting BM from bottles. She didn't mind him giving her food but still sort of wanted me for comfort and more nursing.

Now DD3 is the same way she screams when he does anything with her. I tell him it will pass as it did with DD1 but he still gets upset about it.

I promise it does get better it just takes some time. I have to remind DH that DD1 after about 1 was all about him most of the time.

    Hope I helped !!

  • It does get better. You're right that it has a lot to do with ebf, I did with my DD and hence I was the one to provide soothing/comfort. As she got older she warmed immensely to DH.
