Contractions ALL day

So I've had contractions all day since about 5am. The started inconsistent then became more regular but only ever got to be about 8min apart at the closest. The. They've slowed throughout the day but I've had them all day long. Some are pretty painful and very strong.

I know they say not to go I or call unless you have the 511 rule going on, I'm just waiting to see if that happens. But is it normal the have them ALL day long? Could this be the early parts of labor? Anyone else?

Re: Contractions ALL day

  • ugh I am right there with you. Mine were actually pretty close together but not that syrong so I waited and now they are no longer regular. I am having such a hard time because with DD1 I had no idea I was in labor. I just wish I would get some major sign like my water breaking...

  • I'd drink a lot of water and lay down and see what happens before going in and getting sent home. That'd be so disappointing!

  • Unfortunately I do think it's normal.  It could stall out completely and mean nothing just yet or your body could be doing it's thing, just slowly.  I was contracting foreeeever before actually going into labor and then that took a while too.  GL!!!!

This. FTM but have heard you could be like this for a day or more before really full labor starts.

  • I had this a few weeks ago, but the contractions were 4 minutes apart all day. My doc said that if I could still do whatever I was doing before the contraction started, then it wasn't real labor.

  • I agree with all the PPs but also would call your OBs office if you are in too much discomfort.

  • I had incredibly painful contractions three minutes apart for over twelve hours. I went to the hospital and was sent home because I wasn't dilating past a two. A few days later I had the same contractions so I didn't head to the hospital for a long time. And then had the baby just hours later. I do not know if there is a real way to tell which is labor and which isn't because my contractions were the same both times!
