Re: Mucous Plug

Hey guys I am 33 weekswith my second baby and on bedrest. So I just went to the restroom and when I wiped they was a glob of mucous. I never remember losing my plug with my daughter. Is it to soon to lose it?

  • FTM here but it is my understanding that the mucous plug can reginerate itself & grow back.

  • I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago, and then again this morning, so I'm pretty sure mine is regenerating, if that's what it is.  I've been on bed rest for the past 2 weeks for low fluid so I'm checking every wipe for changes and that's probably why I even noticed it.

I think they are only concerned if it's bloody or if discharge has a funky smell or color which might mean infection.

  • It is a sign of cervical change, but that doesn't mean the cervix will keep changing. You could have effaced or dilated a little, which is normal.
