Leaking Through Stitching

Bad day! Today DD fell asleep in an Alva diaper.  Oops. This diaper always leaks through the stitching if I leave her in it more than an hour.  Of course, she takes a long nap out of the blue and lo and behold, it leaked. Great.  Later, she had a big poop in a Kawaii and also leaked through the stitching. 

What is going on? These diapers have been used probably 6 or 7 times each.  I thought I prepped them correctly, but perhaps not.

Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

    Try drying your covers on high heat once to seal the stitching.

    When I had this problem with my Fuzzibunz their customer service advised me that it happens frequently and is usually caused by overstretching the elastic. The said to strip the diapers with an overnight soak (they recommended RLR, oxyclean, or Rockin Green Funk Rock to do this), followed by 15-20 minutes in the dryer on high to reseal the PUL.

    Huh, interesting. I'll try stripping them and resealing them. Do you think I could be putting them on too tightly? Would that overstretch the elastic?

    Stripping and drying have exactly nada to do with overstretched elastic. Overstretched elastic would need to be replaced. Stripping would fix repelling, not leaky seams. Drying Would reseal the PUL at the seams. It sounds like they just gave you every reason slash solution all at once. I would just try drying it to seal the PUL first.

    I did try drying the Alva already and still leaked this time, so I'm not sure what else to do. Like I said, these are very lightly used diapers, so I have no idea what the issue is.

    You're right. Each step in the "fixing" process is for a different problem, but I figure if OP doesn't actually know what the problem is it gives her a few options to try.

    FWIW I almost deleted the part about the overstretching, because even when you're talking about OS FB's it doesn't make a ton of sense. I'm really freaking tired today.
