Had my 38 week appointment today and when the nurse first took my blood pressure it was high (140/something). It was high the second time she took it as well. Then she switched to a larger cuff and it was 129/90. That is a little on the high side for me, but when the doctor came in she didn't seem worried (I don't have any of the signs of pre-E). She just told me to watch my salt intake and call if I see spots or get a headache that wont go away with Tylenol.
I'm sure the doctor sees things like this all the time so if she isn't worried, I shouldn't be either. I've just NEVER had high blood pressure of any kind ever, so I don't know anything about it. So should I be more worried than my doctor seems to be?
Re: How worried should I be?
I wouldn't stress too much.
I've got pretty normal blood pressure 90% of the time, but on occasion it'll spike. Normally it's like 115/70 or so, but last week it was 125/80. Doctor wasn't concerned. Nor was he concerned the one week I had 135/90 (I'd had caffeine that morning, turns out I can be sensitive to it, despite having my fair share of it normally). It can fluctuate. If it is high at your next appointment, be sure to ask your doctor's thoughts specifically, but it probably isn't that big of a deal.
