Pregnant after 35

Intro

I've been lurking on this board for awhile but as of today, I can officially post.  I  POAS this morning and it was positive, called my dr's office and they told me to come in to confirm, which I did and they said that I am 3 weeks and 6 days, EDD of November 14th.   I'm 37 now and will be 38 when the baby is born.   I'm nervous and scared.  I can't believe that I'm actually pregnant.  It isn't sinking in at all!  I'm glad that there is this board of supportive women to help!

  • Congratulations!! You can do it!! I was the same age as you when I found out I was preggo and I am 38 and due to have a healthy baby any day now. I feel older some days than others, felt overwhelmed and freaked out at first. My husband is in his 40s, this was a shock to us! I know one thing though, it is amazing that my daughter will have a awesome mom because one thing I know for sure is that I am lots more mature than I was when I was 21 and had my first child!! On the sinking in part....it takes several months to sink in...some days I am not sure it still has sank in...I have a friend that was 38 when her son was born and he is 5 now, I asked her about when it would sink in....ok so that was like 16 weeks or so in, haha! She told me that to this day, she looks at her son and cannot believe it! He is a amazing gift that she never expected...so it is ok basically to feel that way!! You are going to do awesome!!

  • Congratulations and welcome! You are younger than some of us on this board Wink so I wouldn't be too nervous. Most AMA women have perfectly smooth and healthy pregnancies--why shouldn't you?

I was consciously trying to conceive, but I was pretty shocked that it happened for us as quickly as it did. I actually went in for a blood test to confirm my pregnancy before I told anyone (well, except my DH, who watched me come back into the bedroom one morning looking puzzled, going, "Uh, that sure looks like two VERY BRIGHT lines, doesn't it?").
