C-section moms come in!

Dumb question for you all. I'm 5 months pp and still cannot do a lunge or a girl pushup. I started at 220 pounds and lost 40 pounds before becoming pregnant. Now I'm back to my prepregnancy weight of 180 and I'm continuing to lose more. For all you c-section mamas, how long before I get a little core strength back? I have been taking it slow, but my body is sooo different now.

Have you been doing core workouts? I could be wrong but I would like the difficulty that comes with being able to do a lung or a pushup has a lot to do with your quad and upper body strength. I just started doing the 30 day shred video at about 5 months pp and the lunges/pushups are HARD. Do you do any weight training? That may help.

  • I had 2 c-sections in 2.5 years. I can tell the difference in my body for sure. I was back to my pre pg weight and size within 6 months of my 1st, and still struggling with losing and getting back to "normal" after #2. It sucks, I feel your pain. I tried to do the 30 day the other day and felt like I was going to die. It doesnt help that I'm exhausted from chasing around an almost 3 year old with a 5 month old in tow!

  • My core was very strong pre-preg.  I had a c-section, and started light jogging with the baby jogger (with an infant seat attachment) at 8 weeks PP.  The next day, my entire core hurt so bad I could hardly move!  I guess the jogging  indirectly worked my core, which sounds like what is happening with your lunges and pushups.  I did some gentle, gradual core work to get my strength back.  I did modified planks (core straight, supported on knees and elbows), starting at 30 seconds, working up to a minute.  Once those got easy, I started regular planks.  Now, I can run without core pain.  HTH!
