So last night I was in L&D for a couple hours. I have been having contractions for the last two days that won't go away with rest, water, a muscle relaxer, or a bath so they told me to head in. I got hooked up to the monitors and I was having them about every 4 minutes. They gave me an IV with fluids and ran a bunch of tests. I'm not dilated, negative FFN, but I DO have a bladder infection. So they gave me antibiotics and a shot of terba... (can't remember the full name of that one) to stop the contractions. I didn't have another one for an hour or two but I'm still having them now. Dr. says to "be a slug" this weekend and take my antibiotics and go in if things get any worse.
All in all, although it was stressful I'm doing ok. LO looked really good and I was glad to get to see L&D before the big event. I'm mostly just worried about how this affects my job and when/if I can return. The Dr. says that if I go in to work on Monday and I start having more contractions from being at work then I have to go home so we'll be playing this by ear for a little bit. Being in L&D made me realize how happy I am to be with my doctor at this hospital because I felt very well taken care of. Hope all your nights were a little less eventful than mine!
Re: Joining that L&D train
The medication to stop contractions is terbutaline, had to have it with my first 2 pregnancies...
Thanks, that's good to hear! I'm really hoping that's the case for me
