Hi I'm looking for a gift to give my almost 2 yr old for the spring. I was thinking of something we can do outside like a sand or water table or both.. But not sure what's better. Are the dual tables nice? Doesn't sand get into water table? Or is a plain sand box better that they sit in? Any other ideas for a present would be great too! We have a train table for him and he loves ..
Re: Recommend your Sand/water table!
If you have the room do a sand box. If you or your SO are handy they are really easy to make. All you need is 4 sides since you don't want a bottom so water can drain. I think any water table is fine. My boys like using tupperware in them the most so they can move the water around. I would not do a combo table since that would be a mess.
We have a combo table by Step 2, but it mostly just has sand on one side and we add water occasionally to the other side. Yes it makes a mess, but who cares. It's outside and it works well for making sandcastles, mud piles etc. My son loves it.
We have this one (different colors though) and love it. We don't put two things in at one time, it's either all water or all rice. We don't want the mess if water and sand mix together.
We have also filled it with shaving cream, gelatin, coffee beans, and shredded paper. Water, shaving cream and gelatin are her favorites.
I think both of ours are by Step 2, though they're separate tables.
Both are a huge hit.

We have this combination table, although we haven't yet tried using sand and water at the same time : https://www.onestepahead.com/product/Sand-and-Water-Table/_/R-538310
He received it for his first birthday and played with it all last summer. It does include a lid.
We only have a porch, no yard, so a regular sandbox wasn't an option.
