Nap Help

DD sleeps great at night.  But after being awake for about 1.5 hours each morning, she is clearly ready for a morning nap.  I watch her cues and pick her up/ rock/ shhh until she falls asleep which usually takes around 15 minutes.  Problem is she starts fussing and crying during the nap and I can tell she's still tired.  In fact her eyes are usually still shut when she's doing this.

WWYD? I want her to get a full nap bc she's a mess by end of the day if she doesn't nap well.  Should I let her cry some? Or go in to soothe her and then leave??

Re: Nap Help

  • Forgot to mention she is 14 weeks today (9 weeks adjusted age since early).

     Thanks for any input!

  • Is the fussing happening at the 30/45 minute mark? That's usually when one sleep cycle ends and a lot of babies have trouble transitioning to the next one on their own. My LO will often do the same thing, so I'll go in and give him his paci back and rock him back to sleep. Sometimes that helps extend the nap by another 45 min-an hour.

  • She won't take a pack often unfortunately.  And when she does, she wakes up immediately when it falls out.  So the paci doesn't help matters much.  Yes, today it was exactly when she had been sleeping for 40 mins!
  • K fusses after 40 minutes too. If I catch him quick enough, I can soothe him back to sleep, but usually he wakes up and is done with that nap. Can't seem to help him ease back to sleep (which he does fine at night).
