NPR: If my toddler doesn't take her nap....

...I seriously might cry.  She's been up in her room doing flips & jumping on her bed for nearly an hour.  Every time I go up there, she pretends she's sleeping and it's driving me insane.  I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but I also know that if she doesn't take a nap, my evening will be spent fighting a super tired, super cranky toddler.

If I weren't pregnant, I think I'd be cracking a bottle open soon.  Ugh!

I like you.  I really, really like you!  The sad part is, once I drink one, I won't want to stop - le sigh.

My afternoon consists of DS2 napping, DS1 doing "quiet time" in front of a show, and me sitting on the couch.  It's called 'pregnancy survival mode.'

  • Nap? What is this? My DD stopped taking naps before she was 2, and has very little interest in tv. It is sooo frustrating some days that I'm positive my newborn is going to be the easier one!! And yes I have cracked open a bottle of wine and had a glass . Sometimes it's not a want, its a need. Don't feel bad!!

You need to go buy the 4 packs of mini cheap bottles.  Then only keep one mini bottle in the house at a time, and hide the rest in your H's car.  Then you have to be one and done.

Hey, there are definitely some days where quantity just means way more than quality.

That's what the magnum size is for.  (assuming by 'some days' you meant 'college')

  • Thanks for the support (and the laughs), ladies!  It took nearly 2 hours, but she's asleep now.

For the record, I'm very jealous of the moms who can get away with Disney movies.  She watches for about 20 minutes, and then it's back to swinging from the ceiling fans.  But, I'm still very, very fortunate that naps are usually rather easy.  I don't know what I'll do if she ever decides she doesn't want them anymore!

If it gives you any hope DS1 wouldn't sit through more than 20 min of a movie until he was at least 3.  Now he stares slack-jawed at the tube with the best of them!

  • I have felt this way so many times the last few months. DD used to b a decent napper and sleeper but lately everything has gone out the window and naps and bedtime have been a struggle. Only until about a week ago is she starting to calm down an go to sleep when she's supposed to (and gettin up only once during the night instead of multiple times). Hopefully I goes back to not gettin up at all soon!

it will be quite som time before I can go back to soothing my neves with some wine. I feel for you!
