Carseat (insert?) question for a friend

Hi everyone.  I have a friend who had her baby yesterday at a smidge under full term. Her baby was born at 5 lbs 1 oz and aside from being small is perfectly healthy. It is likely that she will be below 5 lbs when she leaves the hospital, and her carseat is only rated for 5+ lbs.  Is there some sort of safe insert she can use to make sure her DD is safe for the first few trips out? I know she doesn't want to buy an entirely new carseat as her DD will probably only be below 5 lbs for a week or two, but I also know that generally you're not supposed to put anything squishy between baby/straps/seat because it could compress in an accident. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks. The hospital she is at has our area's level 3 NICU, so I'm sure the nurses are with it enough to give her the info, but she texted to ask me and I wanted to be sure not to give her incorrect info.
