June 2013 Moms

::Story Time::

My conversation with DD this morning when I was putting on my make-up:

DD: You know, the other day I pulled my eye out and spun it around on my finger. But it didn't hurt, and it went back in. I was calling your name for you to come look, but you ignored me.

Me: You're telling me you took your eye out.....played with it.....and then put it back in?? Really?

DD: (Exasperated) Moooom, it was in my dream. And the dungeon did it.

Me: The dungeon, hmmm. Do you even know what a dungeon is?

DD: Uhh, no mom I don't. I've never asked you what it is before so how would I know what it is. What is it?

Me: Its like a cave where dragons live.

DD: Oh. Yeah, it couldn't have been a dragon. They are extinct.

Confused Sigh......

Anyone have any funny/cute/ridiculous stories to share??

  • Yesterday I was waiting for SO to pick me up from the college. I normally walk but the roads were clear and the sidewalks were VERY icy.

I was sitting inside, on the stairs and I hear a little voice say, "Excuse me." I turn around and a little girl is peeking out of one of the doors. She says, "Are you ok?" I was so amazed at the concern this child was showing. I simple said, "Oh yes, I'm fine. Thank you so very much for asking though."

It turns out she is the child of one of the professor's children. I'm tempted to email her and let her know how impressed I was with her daughter.

ETA: OP, the story about your daughter is adorable.

I'm a FTM, but Auntie X4. My favorite story has always been my nephew at about age 2. Preface: Hubby (known as Uncle Buss to the kids) and I were living together, not yet married and still in grad school. This convo was completely out of the blue.

N: Auntie Riss, Uncle Buss- when are you two gonna have kids? I need cousins.

Me: Well Buddy, we are going to finish school, then Auntie Riss gets her rings, and then we'll talk about it ok?

N: Well, where do you get the rings?

Me: Well, Uncle Buss will go to the store and find them.

    N: Uncle Buss!

    R: Yeah Buddy?

N: Can we go shopping tomorrow for rings for Auntie Riss? Then you can give me 96 cousins!

  • My oldest nephew is five, and is very literal-minded. My sister has been planning my baby shower and has attended a few others for her friends, and my nephew has been so confused because he could not for the life of him figure out why a bunch of women would want to get together and put a baby in a shower. My sister finally explained that no, a baby shower is not where you give a baby a shower, but where you give them presents and it's like his entire world has expanded.
  • That's hilarious!

My DD is only starting to talk, but after every time you give her something she says "dank youuu!"  I was helping her put chicken on her fork last night and after every bite, mouth full of food, it was "dank youuu!"  She cracks me up lately.

  • Aww, that's cute!

My nephew is 6 and he is ridiculously excited about getting a new cousin so everytime I see him he asks me why the baby isn't out of my belly yet.  I told him it would come after his birthday (May 18th) and he said "awesome, May 19th!!" and I had to explain I meant sometime in the month after his birthday and not the day after, he was super disappointed.

My niece is like that- when we told her the baby is due June 21, she asked if baby could come June 4th (her birthday) so they could share!
