Monitors

Ok, I'm back and I'm posting. Who here still uses their monitor? I find now that she is older, I check it less and less often and now That i have moved it somewhere where she can't reach the wires I can barely see her when I do. I can't believe there will be a time when I don't monitor her sleep. BTDT moms, when did you get rid of the monitor?

Re: Monitors

  • We use it nightly but it's more out of habit. If he wants us, he'll let us know. He certainly doesn't need a microphone anymore. :)

  • I still use it for both naps and bedtime! BUT- if he wakes in the middle of the night to fuss, I will turn the volume off and set my alarm for 10 minutes later to let him go back to sleep on his own. Sometimes this happens 4-5 (ok, maybe 6) times in a row, as long as he's not really crying I leave him. I just like to know what he is doing at night. sadly, there have been a few mornings I wake up about 4-5 and realize that the monitor volume is STILL off, and I feel like the worst mommy even though he is sleeping happily!

I am a lot more lenient with it, though, like if he is sleeping, I don't carry it around the house and constantly flick on the screen to make sure he is asleep.

I am kind of excited for when he gets older and he starts sneaking out of his 'big boy' bed and we can spy on him, lol!

  • Used it with charleigh until 1 year old. Emma has never had one. I sleep a lot better not hearing every grunt! If she is ever really upset or trouble we can hear her. She and her older sister share a room now and that makes me feel even better

  • I never got a video monitor just because I didnt want to find myself watching it all the time. we got the angel care
  • We have never used a monitor...hearing every grunt and noise would drive me crazy- He slept in our room until 4months then in his crib right next door since then with the door open-If he needed me I'd hear him- I sleep so light anyways

  • We don't use one at all, he's loud enough if he needs me I'll hear him any where in the house. I don't get enough sleep to watch him sleep.

We still use it, but it's because I can't hear her if she wakes up without it.  Her room is on the other side of the house from where we sleep, and I can't hear her downstairs during the day when she naps.  I don't use it so much now to see her, but to hear her.

This.  We just use it at night.  If she cries in her sleep we usually let her go for a few minutes and she soothes herself.
