urban legend??

So why was I under the assumption that while EBF, you wouldn't get your period??  I bled postpartum for 6 weeks to the day and now 10 days later I'm spotting.  WTF, I know not having a period for 38 weeks spoiled me...but come on!!!

Re: urban legend??

  • It's not an urban legend.  Breastfeeding can delay the return of your menstrual cycle, but it's all hormonal and everyone's body react differently.  Sucks though.  I think we could all use at least a good 6 month break!

  • With DD1, I didn't get my period back until a month after I stopped Breastfeeding.

With dd2, I had my first period 2 weeks ago, and I'm on day 5 of cramping/spotting. So fun
  • I have a friend who EBF her little girl for just over a year straight and she got her period back at 6 weeks pp. everyone's different. The human body is a crazy thing!
  • According to my ob it can depend on how much you use the pacifier and give pumped bottles. Most women go to about 6 months when Solids are introduced.
  • Just wanted to mention I was told there could be some spotting up to eight weeks post partum, especially if you had a tear. It could be that and not your period at all?

  • I BF until 15 months with DD1 and my period didn't return until after a year when I was only nursing 2x a day. I REALLY hope it stays away this time, too! Hopefully your spotting was just a fluke!
  • I am EBF, DD has never even had formula, and I started my period at 5 weeks PP. It sucks. My friend didn't get hers for a year and I'm pretty jealous of that.

Me too. LO had never gone more than 2-3 hours between feedings until this week and I had a period at 7 weeks pp, 11 weeks pp, and ovulated last week so I'm expecting it to show up again next week... Grrr....
