Little survey to see if it's just me who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown
How old is your DS? (Mine is 3)
How would you rank their energy level on a scale of 1-10? (I'd give DS an 11, he literally bounces when he talks)
Is there anything you have found that relaxes them or makes them more calm? Is there something that makes them more crazy? (Even when I sit down to read books with DS, he jumps on the bed and moves around the whole time).
*This is not to say that he doesn't ever sit quietly and listen to a book or watch tv, etc... but most of the time he just seems so hyper! I'm asking moms of boys because all my friends with girls say it's a boy thing. Though I'm sure there are really calm boys and really crazy girls.
Thanks for sharing!

How old is your DS? 2.5
How would you rank their energy level on a scale of 1-10? Varies from 5-9
Is there anything you have found that relaxes them or makes them more calm? Is there something that makes them more crazy? Singing. He'll briefly stop to listen, dance along. Also giving him tasks. Go find two socks, goofing me sunglasses, etc. It will distract him enough to redirect his energy.
As far as what works to calm him, very little. Occasionally, if we dim the lights he will lay cuddle while listening to calming nature sounds, usually rain thunder. He also likes looking at pictures if the moon. On my phone I downloaded a rain soundtrack so at bedtime I play that and then I Google images of the moon and we scroll through those images while listening.
Good luck.

DS is going to be 3 at the end of the month.
Energy level = 10
Constant movement is very normal for him. And if he has to sit still, he switches to fidgeting or even humming.
Cuddling works sometimes. Coloring.
Reading nope - lately I read to him as he walks around the room.
About all the suggestions I have.
Best advice is to work with the energy as much as you can rather than fighting it. Obviously they have to sit for meals, etc. For example, telling stories (DS favorite is 3 little pigs) as we walk around or play blocks is an alternative to reading.
LO is almost 3. His energy level is about a 7-8. We do a lot of things to get rid of the energy like take him to the park, the indoor gym, the pool, and or a indoor play park at the mall.
To calm him we usually read, color, do puzzles, or play with his trains.
A kiss he will never forget- Disney World 2014
DS is 3.
I'd say his energy level is a 7. Prior to his sensory processing diagnosis, he was probably around a 50. LOL
Our sensory activities calm him. Lots of heavy work activities/jumping breaks mixed in with calming activities like coloring/crafts/play doh.
My son is 2. He is not that energetic, just average 2 year old crazy. He still loves to snuggle and sits very still on my lap to read books. He also gets engaged in playing with trains, cars or games on the iPad and is pretty still. He hardly moves when he watches tv. He prefers the swing at the park over running & climbing.
Wrestling, playing chase or dancing get him moving though. He loves to take walks and ride his ride-on toys in the house. Also making silly faces & noises to make him laugh cause him to be a little wilder.
