My little princess Ella Virginia gained 4 ounces this week!!! I am SO happy!! Now just half a pound to go until she's back to birth weight. She's 9 days old and EFF but has still been losing until now. I had felt like such a failure but its all going better now! She's such a tiny little 5 pound peanut

    So happy to hear you're finally getting some good news! Our little girl lost 10% of her birthweight in the first 4 days, but we found out yesterday that she plateaued.  Hopefully at next week's pedi appt we will find out she has finally gained a bit, too.

    Congratulations!! It's so scary when they lose that much. She went from 6 pounds to 5 pound 6 ounces while we were in the hospital and its very emotional to feel like your baby isn't being nourished!

    I know.  It's like the most important thing you have to do for the baby, and sometimes the baby doesn't cooperate. Also, there's so much learning to do.

    Honestly, my milk didn't come in until 4 days later, and when it did she still wasn't nursing properly because I didn't know how to position her properly, so I became so engorged, and had a total meltdown. My SIL came over to help teach me how to pump out the excess and massage out the lumpy ducts. Meanwhile, DH is watching this all super wide eyed: yes, your SIL is massaging your hysterically crying wife's breasts. I guess it was kind of a funny scene when I look back at it!
