Me too, but all of my friends (who have totally normal incomes and jobs) swear by them!
I was at TJMaxx the other day and saw some knock offs that were 100% muslin as well, and wondered what the difference could really be... aside from the adorable prints
I got some at my baby shower, and they really are lovely. They're nice and light, but really big ? they were our favorites for swaddling.
I think they're a great item for a wish list if you're expecting any sort of gifts from family or friends. A 4-pack will run you about $30, which seems like a good price for a gift. And I'd rather have lovely blankets than a fugly layette outfit I'm just going to end up donating anyway.
Yes they are awesome! We bought one pack of 4 with DD and that has been plenty. They are really big with just a bit if stretch so swaddling is much easier than most baby blankets used miracle blanket during the night
They're also thin enough that air can flow through so perfect weight for indoor use without making baby sweaty. DD is one now and we still use those blankets more than any of the other ones we have.
My friends who have used them raved about them. Even the ones who are as cheap as I am.
I'm going to splurge on one pack this time around. We need to purchase something, anyway. DD had mostly flannel swaddles because she was an early spring baby. We definitely need something lighter weight this time.
Keep an eye on Amazon. They had them on sale for $35 not that long ago.
My initial thought was the same as yours, but then I bought one for DS.
WORTH EVERY PENNY.
They are really unlike the others and are so soft. Target and Babies R Us carries them and they are cheaper than if you buy it at a boutique. We have one package of swaddle blankets and also the burpy bibs, which are better than the usual bib. They go all around the baby's shoulders. I say go for it :-)
Living in Florida my mommy friends have highly recommended them.
My best friend actually sent me a pack of them when I told her I was pg. I'm excited to use them, they're so soft!! She also said the bed sheets they make are amazing.
A 4-pack will run you about $30, which seems like a good price for a gift.
The true Aden & Anais swaddles are $50 for a four pack. Are you referring to the A&A ones, available at Target?
I'm pretty sure Amazon carries the regular Aden & Anais swaddle blankets. Depending on the pattern, you can usually get them for way less ? they're $36.27 right now, but I've seen them for $30 and $32.
I hate them for swaddling. They're too big (even folded) IMO and DS could always get out no matter how tight we swaddled. I much preferred the SwaddleMe velcro swaddlers for actual swaddling. I used the a+a blankets for draping over the car seat, nursing cover, etc. They are nice blankets and we still use them, but they're not a "must" IMO.

I got a package of them as my *very first* gift after telling my bff I was pg. In fact - I think it has been the only "baby" gift I have received so far.
She gave me the muslin ones in the blue box from amazon. I haven't opened the box. She has a baby so I figured she knew what she was doing she said muslin would be good for an August baby.
Glad to hear so many people find them to be a good product. Also - good to know we only need one pack!
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.
Our first kiddo was a summer baby, so we used the Aden Anais swaddle blankets because they were so light. They are so easy to swaddle and and super durable. My son now almost 2 still sleeps with them! Definitely worth the money. I've found they are less expensive at target!
ABSOLUTEY YES!!! They are super soft and lightweight. Especially great for August Mommas! We still use ours as a blanket sometimes and our son is 2.5 now.
I love them especially living in a hot climate. Plus, my baby is always hot and gets super grumpy when she is too hot. They breathe really well. I have the ones from BRU so they were $35 for 4.
Absolutely worth it. We have 8 of them (purchased the 4-packs at Target). They were great for the winter swaddling, cars eat covers, floor covers, and now, at 2.5 years old, DS still sleeps with a clean one every night (he sucks on them- we took his paci at 8 months).
bottom line, they're worth it. I'll be getting new ones for this baby.
Oh, and we liked the so much, it's now our gift of choice with friends and family who are expecting. I found the size of the packs from Target to be just fine (the boutique versions that have different prints, and are $50, are larger. I never seemed to need a larger size.)
OMG I LOVE THEM! I have 8 boutique blankets (bought in 2 packs of 4) and 4 target versions of the swaddle blanket. The boutique ones are so much softer, cuter, and bigger. I think they are worth the extra money. I use them for everything- nursing cover, swaddle, changing pad, burp cloth, etc... Even though I have 12 already, I will probably buy the 'up and away' collection because it is so freaking cute! All their products are great- sleep sacks, burp cloths and bibs, too. Love Love Love a&a!
I feel like they are totally worth it and I never used mine for swaddling b/c DS hated it. I used them to cover the stroller and carseat to block out the hot summer sun, as a cover up when I BF in public, to set down on floors for DS to play on as an infant and now as a thinner blanket for my son at 2.5 years. He calls them all his Blanky. I may have to get more for the new baby because I don't think DS will give them up!
Love them. I was lucky enough to find four of the boutique quality at a garage sale for $5 and then bought the Target brand eventually too. DD still uses them to snuggle with when she falls asleep. I'll get a few more for this baby too.

I've never heard of these. But my son loved to be swaddled so I'm going to try and find some in Canada.
Yep, definitely worth the price. I got a set as a gift with DD and used them with her and DS. I'll use them with this baby too!

They are my splurge. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to most clothing/bedding stuff usually.
