When is it safe to give your babies water? I was thinking about trying out a sippy cup for my LO but wasn't sure what the typical protocol was here. TIA!
At 6 months it is ok to start offering a little bit of water. I try to give DS some water in a sippy cup with solids, he hasn't quite figured it out yet.

We started water when we started solid food. Not as a drink given on a regular basis, that is still milk. We use water just to put in a sippy cup for LO to practice with, so he doesn't get a lot yet.
I personally don't give LO water, I just don't think he needs it yet. Most things I've read say between 6-8 months is an ok time to give small amounts.
We started at 6 month per pedi's advice. She gets a full sippy cup because it is easier to drink from then a half full one. She doesn't drink much at all.
We've given it since then though honestly she may actually drink one or two swallows. I fill a cup most days as just a way of her getting used to her cup. Practice makes perfect.
We started offering water when we started solids at 6 months. DD is just getting good practice with her cup for now. I don't think she as managed to drink from it just yet. She mostly chews on the soft spout. It must feel nice on her gums!
Around 6ish months it's ok to start with a sippy cup. I wouldn't expect your LO to get it for a while though. Mine is just turning 9 months and she still can't get anything out. Sometimes from a straw cup but still not even like an ounce.
