1. Would you recommend Medela Pump in Style or Freestyle? Why? Is the freestyle worth an extra $100? (fwiw, I plan to work full time and pump while away from home. With insurance - there are upcharges to both models - difference of $100)
2. If you have Aetna insurance and went through them to get your pump, what DME provider did you use? Were you happy with them?
Anything else I should consider? TIA!!!
Re: Breast pump questions
I had the Freestyle and loved it! It was worth the extra cash for me because I traveled A LOT when my first was a baby. I had to use it in my car, the airport, spare offices when out of town, etc, so not having to plug in to a wall was key. Plus it was small enough to fit in my purse (granted, I do have a big purse). If you don't plan to travel much, it may not be necessary for you. Don't purchase it just for the handsfree because it's a pain to hook up and you can get the same results with the PISA by just using a handsfree bra.
No help on the insurance, I had to shell out my own $400 for that sucker!
I had the PISA and loved it. I know there are some amazing women out there who manage to pump while walking around, driving, etc., but I was never one of them. I needed to park my butt and pump. The PISA comes with a battery pack and you can purchase a car adapter for use on the go, and you can purchase an inexpensive hands-free bra to free you up for typing or eating while pumping....I personally wouldn't get more adventurous than that.
When I did my research 2+ years ago, Baby Bargains had noted that the suction might be a little lower in the Freestyle, and that was what tipped me over the edge to just stick with the PISA. Not sure if others have found that to be true or if it's still the case.
PGAL/PAL welcome
