How soon after baby?

My LO will be 2 weeks tomorrow. After a difficult pregnancy, I'm kind of looking forward to exercising again.  I know I have to wait 6 weeks for more strenuous exercise, but wondered if I could get started with anything?  I.e yoga? Skating? Jogging?

  • If you're up for it, I think you can start light yoga or walking. Just nothing strenuous, as you said.

  • Listen to your body - how do you feel?  If you feel up for a walk, get out and walk.  If that feels good maybe a light jog.  If things don't feel good, don't rush it!

  • DS was tiny and I had no tear and very few days of PP bleeding.  I started walking within a week and running at 3 weeks.  But I had been running regularly up to delivery.  I think the general rule is to wait until your bleeding has stopped and definitely don't start off doing anything more intense than you had been during your pregnancy.

  • I started walking with him when he was probably 3 weeks old. I was too sore to do much more than that even 3w pp. The first time jogging after having a baby is sort of scary, or at least it was for me. It felt like my bottom was going to fall off.

  • Above all else, listen to your body!  Don't be a knucklehead!

  • My little guy is 9 days old and I'm going on walks now and doing yoga. I feel good enough to start running soon but I don't want to push it and start up too soon :s

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm in the same boat!
