So, today for a routine checkup I went and got my blood pressure taken. Apparently, it was 127/90. She checked both arms and read the same. You see throughout my pregnancy my blood pressure has been in the 117/65 range up until the last two weeks where last week it was 104/85 and the week before being 137/80. I also got my cervix checked and was told I was 2cm and 75% effaced. Which is great cause last week I was totally closed and a little soft.
They checked my blood pressure again and it was 130/91. So now I have to catch pee in a bottle for 24 hours and come back. My mother had toxemia for all three of her children, so they were already keeping a close eye on me.
Just goes to show, one week you can be in the perfect range, the next week you can have a 180 and be close to getting induced. Guess the good news is I was negative on the the Group B Strep.
Re: "Well that escalated quickly..."
Thanks! I honestly didn't know I had high blood pressure.. my vision hasn't changed much (it kinda sucks now, but they have always told me it would happen during pregnancy), but I have noticed like something in the corner of my eye and I look on the wall or something and nothing is there... I don't know if high blood pressure does that? Never had high blood pressure in my life.

My BP was high at my OB appointment last night and I had protein in my urine. I have been feeling pretty good, so was totally disappointed when I heard the news. I had pre-eclampsia with DS1 after I delivered, and it's really something I was hoping to avoid this time around.
My doctor didn't suggest the 24 hour urine test, but he does have me monitoring my BP at home. He said to call immediately if it goes over 140/90 while I'm lying on my left side. If I'm sitting up, he thought that range was acceptable. Did your doc give you any specific guidelines like that?
He mentioned bed rest, but he didn't insist, and I really want to try to hold off on going out of work as long as possible so that I can maximize the time after the birth with my LO.
We all need some positive vibes!
