I have two boys, two years apart. I'm packing away some clothing from my oldest and was curious... Do you ladies save socks and underwear for a second child?
I got rid of anything that was in bad shape or stained, but he has some underwear that are still good quality (Gymboree ones last and wash well forever!) Is it completely weird and gross to save this for the younger child.
Just wondering what others think. I guess I wasn't phased by it at first because we cloth diaper and have re-used those on our second, but for some reason I feel like I should just toss them.
Re: Packing away hand-me-downs...
no I get rid of the old underwear and socks. I also get rid of the overworn stuff, stained stuff, etc. I am having teddy bears made out of the stained baby clothes and overworn baby clothes.
I kept the other good stuff.
When I have my third it probably won't be for a few years so I don't see keeping that kind of stuff. Just my take on it. Some of the overworn stuff I did donate, because it wasn't stained or anything.
I would keep them if they aren't stained or hole-y. I mean, you wash them, right? So they are clean?
We haven't PT'd yet so I don't have underwear but I've kept EVERYTHING. Bibs, socks, onesies.
I have kept everything, including socks. DD1 has not yet outgrown any underwear, but I don't think we'll be saving those simply because I don't think they'll hold up enough to go through a second child. If they weren't getting worn to that point, I might consider saving them.
I would not do second hand underwear from anyone, else, however - just pass it down among my own kids.
