Tell me a story...

I know there are bumpies out there who are just like me - almost done, but their bodies aren't showing signs of much happening.  I was 1cm dilated last week, and I think baby boy is pretty low now but all I'm having is the occasional cramp.  I feel like this far along I should be feeling more signs that my body is gearing up like it's supposed to.  It's the silliest feeling in the world but I feel like things will never happen like they should for me!  I know I have another week at least to full term but I'd like some reassurance that my body knows what it's doing!

So please tell me happy stories about labor coming on with little to no signs beforehand!

Re: Tell me a story...

  • Well with my last son I had gone to the Dr. on a friday at 37 weeks.  Not dilated or effaced at all.  I had been having menstrual cramps constantly so I couldn't believe I hadn't progressed.  2 days later in the middle of the night my water broke.  So its possible they can come anytime.  This pregnancy I'm 38 weeks and same thing not dilated or effaced.  Not having any menstrual like cramps so I have a bad feeling I might go until my C-section date.   But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one will come a little early also.

  • I was admitted to the hospital in the morning because my contractions were so close together 2 minutes, but I was only 1 cm dilated. 7 hours later I was only 4 cm, but was 50 effaced. My baby was born 6 hours later.

And right up until the night before being admitted I had had no signs that labor was coming other than the fact that my due date was so close. My water didn't break until about 5 to 6 hours before he was born.
  • I didn't have any symptoms, not even any Braxton Hicks, with DS1 until I got up to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night and my water broke. With this pregnancy, I've been having steady contractions for the last 4 weeks, so I really have no idea what to expect. In any case, it's gone two totally different directions for me, and I can attest that having no symptoms is definitely not any reason to be concerned.
