My SIL is having her first child in July and will be decorating her nursery with the alphabet. She has assigned letters to various friends and family and our letter is "J" (DS' first initial). We're supposed to try and be creative...we could decorate a wooden letter or find another object that looks like a J. Below is a picture example she gave.
Any fun ideas for the letter J?
Re: Need ideas from the crafty and creative
An elephant head?
I am kind of side eyeing this a little bit. She assigned 26 people the task of decorating her nursery?
Ha. Not only 26 people.....another 10 people as she assigned numbers 0-9 as well. She didn't want people to miss out on the opportunity to be a part of it.
I'm with you - wouldn't have done it myself, but I'm trying to be supportive.
How big is this room?
You could do this general idea with just a wooden letter from the craft store instead of the whole framed thing...
Probably a little more boyish - but you could use different colored cars to match the rest of the room.
That's definitely a neat idea. She doesn't know what she's having. The walls are yellow and there was no color scheme for the letters so we can do whatever.
ETA: it's similar to the ones in this pic but it is a pillow top kind of! https://ca.images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0PDoSwv5DhRny0AqnbtFAx.;_ylu=X3oDMTBlMTQ4cGxyBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1n?back=http3A2F2Fca.images.search.yahoo.com2Fsearch2Fimages3Fp3Dplush2Binitial2Bfor2Bbaby2Broom26tab3Dorganic26ri3D30w=515h=502imgurl=media.rhbabyandchild.com2Fis2Fimage2Frhbcis2Frhbc_prod1460933F24PD24rurl=http3A2F2Fwww.rhbabyandchild.com2Fcatalog2Fproduct2Fproduct.jsp3FproductId3Drhbc_prod146040size=17.8KBname=paintedlettera7C3Cb3Eroom3C2Fb3Edecor7CRestorationHardware3Cb3EBaby3C2Fb3E26Childp=plushinitialforbabyroomoid=3d62e7f8b7e1e03a854614c7db70f040fr2=fr=tt=painted2Bletter2Ba2B257C2B253Cb253Eroom2B253C252Fb253Edecor2B257C2BRestoration2BHardware2B253Cb253EBaby2B253C252Fb253E25262BChildb=0ni=21no=30ts=tab=organicsigr=12jfv8f6qsigb=12v4rtmhosigi=11t34gjb2.crumb=l8mUcKJlj5U
How about writing J words in the shape of a "J" and framing it
kind of like this except J shaped:
Eta:
Hope the link works.
This Etsy shop makes pretty cool wooden letters. You could have them make a cool "J" then paint it.
The Alphabet Boutique
ETA: If I assigned my friends and family to do this, I am almost certain they would all drive to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and I would get all the same letters, lol.
That sounds cool, but I can't seem to get the link to work.
That's why I'm expecting most people will do which is why I'm trying to put a little more thought into it.
Oh I like that too!
Love this idea!
These are all such fantastic ideas - I knew I could count on you ladies (eyerolls/sideyes and all!).
Yeah I cut up scrapbook paper and modge podged an L for Lo's one year photos. It was really cute.
Whoa! That link is crazy, sorry about that! I am on Mobil now so I will try to get a better link for you!
ETA: does this link work better? https://www.potterybarnkids.com/m/products/fabricletters/
That's an awesome idea. I just keep lurking on this post to read everyone's ideas and links haha
I think this is a great idea.
fixed it! I hope
Wow those are nice! I think I'm going to spread some of these ideas to other family members because I hope some more people can get creative with the letters.
