Accent wall

Hi everybody!

I would really like an opinion. I am thinking od changing a colour on the accent wall in our toddler toom. It's currently a yellow wall (with 3 off-white walls). The room is quite small (96 square feet) and has a bit of sun in the afternoons (oriented North-west).
My problem is - I have no idea what colour to choose. I am tired of yellow (the whole ground floor is covered with utterly ugly yellow wallpaper that we still haven't taken down!) I am afraid of blue  - that it is going to be "cold" and make the room look darker. I have already used a very cool green on the other kid's wall (pistacchio green) and I wouldn't like to use the same colour twice.

Orange would look ugly with the colour of the wood. Red is out of the question. Gray is not really for kids.

HELP!!

Re: Accent wall

  • If the room gets a bit of sun, I don't think one blue wall would make it feel colder.  Our nursery gets hardly any sun and the walls are aqua (3) with one water blue wall.  Then I've accented it with warm pieces.

DD has 4 aqua walls (full sun) and DS has 3 khaki colored walls and 1 orange wall (full sun, never never open his drapes).

  • Blue has so many variants and ranges.  There are warm blues that would probably look amazing.   My DD's room is all blue and it doesn't feel cold at all.

How about teal or aqua.  There are lots of shades of blue that won't necessarily feel cold either.

We painted our bedroom "Something Blue" by Sherwin Williams and LOVE the color/room. It is definitely more serene than cold.
Also, if you're interested in thinking outside the box, how about the ceiling? We painted our daughter's ceiling "Bluebell" also by Sherwin Williams and love that as well. Her walls are lavender and then 2 have an awesome lattice pattern on the top half and a darker purple on the bottom half. We LOVE her room and so does she!
