My daughter will be six months next week and has yet to sleep through the night in her crib. She will sleep all night long if she's in bed with me but when she's in her crib she rolls over and wakes up within an hour. I will put the pacifier back in her mouth and rub her back for a little bit but she just won't stay asleep. If I pick her up and put her in bed with us she falls right back asleep. I know it's my fault because i've just been putting her in bed with us so I can get some sleep but I would really like for her to be in her crib. We have a portable crib in our room so she's only two steps away from me because i'm not ready to put her in her crib in her own room.
Everyone keeps telling me that I just need to suck it up and put her in her crib in her room. If I can't even get her to sleep in a crib in our room how can I get her to sleep in a crib in her own room?
Re: sleeping in her crib
Give the crib in the other room a try. My LO would sleep in the bassinet part of the night and in bed with me for the rest. He woke several times a night to eat. My sleep was very disrupted.
I moved him to the crib in his room and he now only wakes once or twice a night.
It's possible that because you are so close (yet so far away) that LO fusses to be near you. Maybe "out of sight, out of mind" would work to get your DD back to sleeping regularly.
does she sleep in anything else? like a rock n play or a swing? my son is 4.5 months and when i posted something like this someone told me to put him in his room in his rock and play (the only thing he'll sleep in!) by himself for 2 weeks to get him used to the room, then the next 2 weeks put him in his crib for naps during the day while still using rock and play at night then after that try the crib. we are on the nap phase and its going pretty well. He sleeps GREAT alone in his room and only wakes up for about 15 min at some point during the night in his rock and play. His naps only usually last about 45 min in the crib but i'll take it. i also put some towels under his sheet to get a comfy feeling where he rests his head. try it!
