Two Under 2

#1 Waking up at night after #2 arrived? Previously STTN.

DS started waking up crying in the night, sometimes 2-3 times.  This didn't start up until DD was 4weeks old.  We thought we were in the clear but it seems DS is now showing signs that this change is affecting him.

Anyone experience something like this?  How long did it last and did you do anything differently once you realized what was causing it.

Thanks!

  • How old is DS? Could it be molars? That was our case for some of our oldest's wake ups.

And, it might sound crazy, but how much is your son seeing you and your husband together not divided by 2 kids? My DS acts up when DH and I get too busy for each other, but just sitting on the couch next to each other talking normally without holding either child really helps all of our behavioral issues. DS sleeps, eats, and acts 100 better. I can't explain it. And it might sound crazy, but I swear it works. It some how plays right into their security issues.

My children are 13 months apart and we are expecting our 3 in 2 months.

That may not be so crazy, my daughter gets way happy when she sees us hugging or holding each other and she's only 10 months

  • Our DD1 did this same thing.  It lasted for about a month.  She only cried/stirred for about 10 minutes or so at a time and was always able to put herself back to sleep without us intervening.  We just let her out grow it, which she did, it just took a little time.

  • yup this is us right now too.  we're trying to focus on giving her more attention from both of us so when bedtime comes she doesn't feel "left out" since the baby is bedsharing with us for now.  some nights it works and she's fine to sleep in her big girl bed, and others it's an uphill battle.  sorry i don't have much advice, i'm right there with you.  i'm hoping once we switch the baby into her crib that everyone will get more sleep, but we'll see.
