Babies: 3 - 6 Months

XP Sleep

This is my second baby, but it seems that I blocked out the early sleepless nights with my son. My daughter sleeps on and off all day, then has a very wakeful period that ends at 2 am. She usually nurses to sleep. I am so flipping exhausted by 2 am that I usually fall asleep while nursing her and don't wake up until 5 or 6. We are reluctant bed sharers. It wasn't exactly a decision I made but I keep winding up with her asleep next to me even though I try to get her in the bassinet as much as possible. Husband is not any help at night. He sleeps down the hall. Don't get me started. Anyway, when did you ladies start to see your LOs getting into a more tolerable schedule? I don't mind getting up and nursing, soothing, etc. I just am looking for the time when she will have days and nights sorted out and be sleeping longer stretches in her own bassinet or crib. My son wakes up around 7, so these long nights are a killer!! Thanks!!

FYI She is 5.5 weeks old.

Re: XP Sleep

  • DS had a fussy/awake/sleep fight time from about 8 pm till 12 am from weeks 3 to 8ish. Around 2 months that just sort of stopped on his own and instead of a nap around 6/7 he started making that his bedtime by not waking up for a long stretch. Hang in there, it'll end soon and you'll be getting a good first stretch hopefully!
