Swim Lessons

Are you taking lessons with your LO? Ours start next month. So excited but also dreading being in a swimsuit.

Used to rock the itty bitty bikini. Definitely not appropriate anymore but that leaves me with no suit right now. What to buy? I'm not into one pieces and I tried a tankini and the top was too long (covered most of my bottoms which made me look like I didn't have bottoms on) - which was surprising because I'm tall. Anyway...what type of bathing suit do you wear? Our lessons will be at our gym.

I know some say, 'if you've got it, flaunt it', but does having it mean you've lost all your baby weight? I've got about 9lbs to go to achieve that. Tummy has no stretch marks and is decent but not totally flat. I never did public pools before baby so the thought of doing this now gives me anxiety. I'm super excited about making these memories with DD so I'm going to get over myself and just do it!!

  • Who is going to be at swimming lessons? Other moms! We all feel slf conscious! I'm just wearing a one piece for lap swimming right now. Function over form. All anyone's going to look at is their LO anyway. I love swimming with my guy! It's the highlight of my week.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • It sounds like you're able to rock whatever you want to wear!

  • I went to my first swim lesson today with DS and the only suit I had was a bikini, so I wore it because I didn't want to buy a new suit. I used LO to cover up my tummy while I was out of the pool. No one looked at me any way. Like PP said, everyone was SUPER focused on their own kiddos. Have fun!! Don't worry about it :)

Ours start on Sunday.  I only have bikinis right now as well, but I don't feel comfortable wearing that.  I think I will go to Target and get some sort of tankini or one piece.  I don't want to spend a lot of money or buy an athletic suit, because I'll never wear it.  But DH will be switching on and off with me in the pool, so he'll be taking the first week until I find a suit!

  • I wore a tankini last Saturday to his first swim lesson.  Think we're going to skip this week as he gets over his sickness.

I've lost all my baby weight plus about 10 lbs (don't be jealous, most of it was b/c of stress and PPD).  My body is by no means perfect, but I am 10 x more confident in my body now than before.  Now I think "Why was I so self-conscious before?"  Don't get me wrong, I need to hit the gym and tighten up, but I'm just not worried about it.

Chances are if you're 9lbs off of rocking the itty bitty bikini you'll look amazing in anything. I wear a plain ol' racing suit when I go for swimming lessons. Feet and arms flail...string bikinis fail.

Seriously! Could you imagine a nip slip at the pool? Good lord I think I'd die!!!!
