My son will be 9 months on the 11th and he eats baby cereal and purees great, but he gags on anything solid, like puffs, tiny banana pieces, even sometimes his teething tablets. I'm assuming its something psychological because he gags the second it hits his tongue; it never makes it to the back of his throat. Anyone else have a LO Iike this? I'm wondering when it will stop.
Re: Baby gags on solids
This, It takes time. Gagging is normal, as long as they're not actually choking. For DS, we started by offering stage 3 purees, but he didn't like them. Finally, one day I offered him a piece of toast to gum. He did wonderfully. It was large enough he could just knaw on it and he learned how to maneuver the pieces in his mouth. If something looked too big, I took it out, but I stopped that after a few days.
