I wanted to get a bouncey house for Bs 1st birthday but wasn't sure if I should rent or buy. The rented one would be $150 for 4 hours. The one I saw at TRU was on sale for $200 (think it was FP) but its half the size of the rented one. If I buy, it'd be considered his bday gift too. Wwyd?
If you own a bouncer, are they pretty sturdy? I would hate to spend that much for it to eventually get a hole or something.
And I realize B himself won't use the bouncer but its sorta for G too. Guess this is an early FFFC. I hate that G has a winter bday and I'm so happy he kinda gets to celebrate and have summer fun on Bs bday.
Re: Bouncey house
I would rent it - but that's because I'm sick of storing huge baby/kids stuff in my house. And I'm not sure how much energy I would have to get it all set up just on a random weekend afternoon for them to play in, ya know?
But I totally get what you mean about the summer vs. winter bdays! My parents have a pool and a big house, so I bet that DS2 will have tons of pool parties for his bday growing up at Nana and Papa's house. Poor DS1 - I feel like as he gets older we'll have to do something way more fun and exciting to compensate for him not being able to have outdoor parties.
I'd just buy it. With 2 boys, you'll probably be happy to pull it out on random days! I know we've talked about a trampoline or something too! Read the online reviews to see what people had to say about quality.
I don't mind having stuff to store but DH does. And hes the one that would have to set it up for the birthday party so I guess it also depends on how easy or difficult that is. The reviews on TRU makes it sound like its simple though.
DH keeps reminding me "This party is for B, remember? Not G." Oops.
Yea, if I bought it then we could use it more than once and maybe for Bs next few birthdays. I was thinking of a trampoline too since they can really use that forever but, man, they are expensive!
We were looking at the little indoor kind that have a handle. They're pretty cheap (especially via craigslist!)
Hmmm I think it depends on how hard it will be to set up and how do you blow it up, and how often will you really be taking it out and doing all that. it probably needs to be plugged in to stay inflated right? and you cant just leave it on your lawn all summer or it will kill that patch of grass? It sounds complicated. If you rent, does someone come set it up and take it down for you.
Yes, renting means someone puts it up and takes it down, which is awesome.
The reviews on TRU makes it seem like setting up the FP one is easy though. And I'd want to only blow it up when we use it instead of having it up all summer so yea, it may end up being a PITA.
Lol some reviews on TRU said they set theirs up in the basement on rainy days! Its noisy but doable. I think I'd keep mine as a backyard activity though.
Awesome! I think I'm leaning towards buying it but that sale was last week so I'll have to wait and see if it comes up again
Ooh, I was thinking of the big trampolines with the netting around them for the yard.
I've tried looking for the small indoor trampolines you're talking about but maybe they don't sell them in Canada.
Late to this, but I'm posting anyway. lol. We bought one for P's first birthday. We use it allllll the time. It's super easy to set up & take down. We just put it in the garage during the winter, & the backyard when it's warm.
Here's the place we got it from (not sure if they ship to Canada though):

They always have sales & sometimes their FB page has coupons. (or you can find one online)
This is the bounce house we got. It is REALLY sturdy. We have used it a bunch, and lent it out to friends for their parties.
