Hello! I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow and I had a growth scan today. Baby looks great. But, they did estimate her weight to be 4 pounds 4 ounces and her belly is a little big I see my OB next week (Tuesday) and then on Thursday, the MfM wants weekly biophysical profiles. They Did not express alarm, but we're cautious about her size. They did ask me if my prior two were vaginal or c-section births and I told them vaginal. Now, of course, I'm reading in to all of it.
Does anyone have an experience about this type of thing? Does this sound normal size wise? The app I use seemed to indicate that 3 pounds is average for now. Both my other babies were 7 pounds, but I didn't have all these u/s with them so I have no idea how big they were at the same time.
Thanks!
Re: Normal for GD baby? 30w 6d = 4# 4ozs.
An ultrasound can be off as much as a pound or so in either direction, so I won't panic quite yet.

My first son was 8#15oz without GD, so I might just have big babies. This time around, I have insulin dependent GD. DS was measuting 3#15oz at 30 weeks, 4#11oz at 32 weeks. 5# 11oz @ 33weeks. 7#5 @35 weeks and 8#6 today @37 weeks. I also have polyhydramnios which makes baby grow bigger in addition to GD. Fun times.
Thank you! This is very helpful! Seems like we are tracking similarly. I'm not worried because I know my doctors will give me excellent care. More just curious what a typical measurement is for around this time and what the rate of growth looks like. My first two were 7#9oz and 7#15oz. But, like I said, no extra u/s with them so I have no idea how big they were at this age. Thanks, again!
Thank you so much! This is super helpful! I know they want to peek at baby at least two more times they said. And, I start weekly bpp next week, twice weekly from 36 weeks on. All this monitoring is with my MFM. My regular Ob also wants to see me weekly from 32 weeks on. So, I feel very confident that they are really giving me excellent care. And, I trust my doctors completely. They've been through the ringer with us (5 losses over the past few years) and we all just want to get her here safely. They won't take any unnecessary risks and neither will I. :-)
Thanks again for the very helpful post! I will admit, it sounds daunting to push a 9 pound baby out. But, I know it's well within the realm of possible. People do it all the time!
DS was 10lbs 6oz without GD. Just genetics. He was estimated to be 8.5 lbs at my 36 week u/s.
I don't have any numbers for DD and do have GD this time. We'll do an u/s at 37 weeks.
