Cups and bottles

So, am I the only sucker who still gives the LO bottles? We only do them first thing in the morning and right before bed. E almost always drinks more milk from a bottle compared to a cup, and I worry that she doesn't get enough to drink at daycare (just because they can't have a cup sitting out all day like we do at home).
If I am the only sucker doing bottles, what cups does your LO use? Do you find that they still have an easier time with some brands compared to others?

She does tend to do better with the straws and uses straw cups throughout the day. Ounce for ounce, in a given sitting, she still takes more from the bottle.
If I were home with her all day and she could have unlimited access to a cup of water, I wouldn't worry about it. Unfortunately, they can't do that at daycare with all the kids running around. And E's always so freaking thirsty when I pick her up. I just want to make sure I get as much fluid in her as I can.
E uses a sippy at daycare too. I'm not sure if that's part of the issue with her being so thirsty when I pick her up. It could just be that she's too busy playing to think of it before she's stuck being still in her carseat. As soon as I snap her in, she starts saying "drink drink" and will scream the whole way home if I've forgotten her drink and snack.
We switched over to straw cups exclusively at 11 months. I don't like what the research shows about bottles after a year. We have heart disease in my family, so anything I can do to promote healthy "eating" I do. And I've seen the effects of dental health first hand with my friend who has a 23 month old, still on the bottle, with brown teeth. I'm hoping LBB inherits my good teeth genes (no cavities!) but just in case.....
LBB will drink out of pretty much any straw cup. We were using the playtex and nuby interchangeably, but our nubys are leaking, so we're primarily a playtex straw cup family now. I'll give him smoothies in "take and toss" cups, but those need supervision because he likes to take the covers off and pour them all over himself.
I would talk to daycare about making water available. There's really no reason why, even with a bunch of kids, they should be restricting intake. LBB's daycare does milk at breakfast/lunch/snack, but the kids have access to their water cups all day long. They have separate cups for water and milk.
Care to share? I've only heard about dental issues.

E would only drink milk out of her bottle, but juice or water out of a straw cup. I tried many different sippys to no avail. Last week, my friend told me abou the NUK active cups, and they worked like a charm. The spout is soft like a bottle nipple and it's not as hard to get liquids out like some of the other sippys. It's the only thing that worked for her daughter as well, so you might want to try it. I bought mine on Amazon and Babies R Us. Good luck!

They are easy to clean and they don't leak like all the others. Plus he doesn't have any troubles getting the milk out. Other straws sometimes wouldn't work for him and he would get frustrated.
We use these Avent sippy cups at home and daycare:
He does really well with straw sippys, but only with water. He will not drink milk out of a straw sippy, so we just use the ones above for both water and milk. And if we are out at a restaurant we just get him his own cup of water with a straw and he does great with that. Strange kid. But weaning off a bottle is very important for their teeth - so some of you might want to discuss it with your pediatrician. I'm not judging, I just want you to make sure you are discussing it with your LOs doctor to see when the bottle cut off becomes important (I'm not sure myself).

We exclusively use Playtex straw cups for both milk and water. I'm surprised that Daycare doesn't let them have water available, maybe it's the germ factor? Do they get water breaks? I'm sure they give the kids water if they ask for it, but chances are if they are too busy playing, they won't ask.
By the way, when should we start transferring to cups? I'm not even practicing with one, maybe I should try.
I was wondering the same thing, he loves taking sips from our cups, but if left to try on his own he spills the water all the his front.
DD drinks water out of various straw sippys and has for months, but won't drink milk from them. She was taking two bottles a day, but I decided to cut those out and have tried various sippys, both straw and not. Her favorite seems to be this Nuby one but I have to hold her on my lap so she is a little reclining because she can't get the hang of tiping her head back. I don't mind because it gives us a little extra snuggle time
Her milk intake has definitely gone down, but I was expecting that.
I know bottles are 'bad' but I don't totally get why-DD would finish her bottle in less than 10 minutes-its not like it was in her mouth all day long, so I never really understood how it could do thaaat much damage.
I just bought a bunch of these a few days ago. I actually like them a lot - particularly considering the price.
DD has been off bottles for a while. It was an easy transition for us, DD is pretty easy going and as long as there was food/milk, she didn't care how it got to her mouth. We use these exclusively. They don't spill and it is pretty easy for her to drink out of them.
About 2 weeks ago, we switched to exclusively drinking out of these Take & Toss straw cups:
Before that, she would drink out of a variety of straw cups that had more flexible straws and then also some sippy cups. She has done so well with these for whatever reason and she drinks all of her liquid (water, milk) with these now.
