gift for new dad?

I would love to get my husband a little something. We're gift givers, and I thought a small item would be nice. Be it a momento, or somethign that might give him more confidence. We're about to have our first.

Any suggestions? I gave him a book when I found out I was pregnant.

I got my husband a card and am going to write a sweet note and I also got him a Dadgear diaper bag backpack. He's been cracking me up saying he's going to be like the dad in the Taco Bell commercial with the baby in the carrier, so I'm giving it to "grande papi" haha I figured he needed a man diaper bag.

I like gifts that are personalized. So maybe a picture frame that is engraved that he can put a pic of him and the baby in?

My husband is a surfer and when he's not working, he wears a lot of quicksilver, billabong, ect. I found a quicksilver black diaper backpack on zappos. It doesn't look like a diaper bag at all, but has a changing pad in it, cooler compartments for bottles and tons of room for other stuff. I gave it to him after our shower when he came to pick me up and he loved it!!

I bought my husband a couple gifts non baby related. I just wanted to make sure he still felt like my husband and not just a father now. I don't know if that makes sense.

Along the baby realm I did look into buying him a zippo lighter that said dad on it. We don't smoke but he collects zippo.

I think anything personalized with whatever they're into is a good idea.

with my last pregnancy i gave him a willow tree statue that was a dad cradling a newborn so this time i snuck out the other day and bought the father and son statue and packed it in the hospital bag to give him after the birth.

I ordered a new dad shirt from a website and packed it in the hospital bag. I thought it would be cute for him to wear when visitors come. But, I can be cheesey like that!

I did a daddy hospital bag and put a bunch of funny things in it (ear plugs for the beeping machines, tylenol, mouth wash and one of those mini 3 oz bottles of jack daniels for if it gets too out of control for him lol, cards, change for the vending machines.and some other stuff) Then i typed up a note in like a children's font and made it like the bag was from the baby and put in cutesy stuff like can't wait to meet you. Here's some stuff to help you deal with mommy- I'm on my way. I'll be getting him a gift for our one year anniversary which is 5 days after my due date. I'm still looking for ideas for that though.
