Nervous....due date is tomorrow need help calming nerves!!

I'm so nervous and scared to give birth and for the recovery process which I guess is expected for a FTM.  I have been nervous about it the whole pregnancy but now that it is the end I'm freaking out.  I guess it is all the unknowns that worries me.  My due date is tomorrow but I don't feel any strong contractions that are consistent.  I  just feel uncomfortable, nauseated and have bad indigestion.  I can't wait to meet my little girl but just wish I could sleep at night so I feel rested for the big day when ever it will be.  Also my husband is now sick with a cold and this would be the worst time for me to get sick being so close.  I guess I'm just feeling a mix of emotions and overwhelmed that I'm not in control of my body.  How is everyone else calming their nerves?

  • For the sickness in the household, try to drink some OJ or eat some oranges. The vitamin c will help your immune system.

As for calming of the nerves, all I can say is talk yourself into thinking that tomorrow is just another day, and it will pass. Try to make plans to do something I guess (granted you aren't on bed rest).  Go to the store... for a single item or something.. I am going to walmart/target/gas station at least once every day to try and keep me preoccupied.. for even 30 minutes lol. If you do not have gas to waste or not in walking distance...go on youtube and click random videos.

  • I'm a FTM too and my due date was 5 days ago but she isn't here yet. I can honestly say I was feeling the same way you are a few weeks before my due date. I even had a meltdown at my doctors appointment one day and couldn't stop uncontrollably crying (awesome hormones). However, I have come to terms with it at this point. She has to come out somehow and I have to help her get here. I just try to think of it as something that will be worthwhile in the end. Pain is t emporary and will eventually go away and then we will have these beautiful children to show for it. Also, if your body is tense during labor you may have a harder time so try to relax and think good thoughts. I'm going to try to do the same once mine decides she's ready!
  • I too am a ball of nerves. I think it happens to all of us. I have done my fair share of crying to my husband and begging him to not go to work and just stay with me to calm my nerves. He usually does, makes me a nice hot bath with a lavender candle and makes me a cup of hot tea. Moments later i feel so calm but i know in the back of head its just gonna happen again but my hubby is always prepared for my meltdowns.

  • Thanks ladies...just reading these posts made me feel better.  I try not to freak out but sometimes it is hard not to.  Hope that everything goes smoothly for your deliveries!!
