Wow, I suck at posting this! Anyone else can jump in and do it next week.
QOTD: Someone throw something out there. I'll explain in my update why I just can't handle it today ... zzzzzz

Re: Pregnancy Check-In
My Mondays (well entire weeks truthfully) have been really busy the last few weeks so I've been MIA. Reading, just not posting.
An update, huh? Well I'll be 22 weeks tomorrow but it sort of feels like 30. I get tired walking up stairs. wth? With DD I was soooo active until the end. These twins are killing me. But on the bright side they are kicking up a storm and moving all around.
QOTD: Are you going to be incorporating any family names into DS/DD's name? Has that been an easy conversation? Hard choice? yada, yada...
35 weeks and 3 days (ticker is off I think).....I seriously thought this kid was coming out on Sat night. We went on our baby moon and did a LOT of walking. Actually we shopped and walk through a museum all day. By the evening when we returned to the hotel room A was in tears she was hurting so bad. She was having BH's contractions and back pain. She finally got some relief after a hot shower. That was scary, AND if that was scary what am I going to do when the real thing happens......
QOTD: Are you going to be incorporating any family names into DS/DD's name? Yes we are the babies middle name will be Joshua after A's brother. Her and her brother are very close and he is also the godfather.
Has that been an easy conversation? I was on board with it right away. I like the initials M.J.
Hard choice? I think it was a harder choice for A then me. Her brother and her dad share a middle name so she was feeling some guilt over not picking the middle name that has gotten passed through all the boys in the family. However neither of us are very fond of the name Wayne (sorry to those who have children named this) it just isn?t our taste.
I need sleep. Period. When I finally get comfy, the dog gets up. When he's sleeping soundly, I am beyond uncomfortable. I think I'm getting about 4 total hours of sleep a night. Maybe. I don't see this getting any better once the baby arrives.
I went to an awesome workshop last weekend on fetal positioning. Unfortunately I was forced to face the fact that Cletus the Fetus is NOT optimally positioned for birth. It really got me down. I've been doing a bunch of exercises taken from that workshop to try to encourage better positioning, but I'm feeling rather helpless and it's really stressing me out. That was definitely not the point in my attending. ARGH. I'm going to connect with a Chiro this week (who is a friend of mine) and hopefully that will make a difference.
We took our Newborn Care and Breastfeeding class yesterday. I'm so glad we were able to get that into the schedule, but I did end up feeling like I could have taught most of it myself, which is frustrating.
I really just need to get a few more things buttoned up at work and then I think I'll be able to relax and just go with the flow. Whenever my little nugget decides to get here, I'll be ready.
Family Names: We decided that since we wanted our LO to have both of our last names, but not hyphenate, we would use S's last name as his middle name and mine as his last name. That really only left us with 1 name to choose. This will almost surely be our only child. We did not want to go with a family name (how do you choose? which family? etc. etc.). So the choice was easy for us, no family names here. This does NOT mean that we know what his first name will be ... we have a list of about 30 names. Still. Yeesh.

Haha, love this.
Pregnancy is still pretty uneventful, which I am trying really hard to tell myself it's for the best, but I can't WAIT to feel the baby move. Our next prenatal is tomorrow. We are hoping to schedule the 20 week u/s then, and maybe if we get lucky it will be earlier than 20 weeks. Listening to the baby's heartbeat with the fetal doppler is fun, but I can already tell baby has DP's stubbornness because we have to play hide and seek before we find the heartbeat, haha.
As for using family names, the ones we picked out aren't family names, even though I would love to use my grandma's name since we were so close before she died. Helene or Dorothy aren't as cute or exciting. The only way I can see is if we got married and took my mom's maiden name of Oreck for all of our last names, but I'm not really sure about it.
17 weeks tomorrow and things are going well. Bit of a bump and some flutters make the physical aspect more real since the first tri symptoms went away.
QOTD: Our kids will have a hyphenated last name. If we have a boy he'll have my wife's family's initial tradition, so a name starting with C and no middle name. If we have a girl, her middle name will be the same name as my middle name, my mom's middle name and my grandmother's first name. These were all pretty easy decisions, although they do pose limiting factors in our name selection process.
15 weeks on Thursday and it seems I'm getting my mojo back! I woke up three days in a row now not feeling hungover, or like I'd been hit by a truck. I got good exercise this weekend (double loop walk on Greenlake - ~5.5 miles!) and did some semi-strenuous yardwork on Sunday. This all feels like a big win!
I'm not as hungry, not peeing as much, and not as tired - so I'm hoping the second trimester honeymoon is here to stay! I have a lot to do
QOTW: We are only using my last name, J isn't connected to her last name and prefers we don't use it. However, the middle name will honor her or her family (she was born on Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL - so Maxwell and Montgomery are our likely MNs, or Louis (after her grandmother Louise...a bit of a stretch I think but she's happy with it). First name is all baby's though! And we have a nice shortlist at this point, though are still finding names here and there we add to it...
Me (43) and J (45) - same sex couple. And we don't feel 40+!

Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.
We live in Seattle and used SRM for our donor egg IVF cycle
We had our 24 week appt today. Our little guy kept wiggling away from the doppler and kicked it twice. It was pretty cute. Physically and emotionally I'm doing really well. I'm struggling with painful hips through the night and I'm tired, but I think those are to be expected. I'm amazed daily by how wonderful V is. She has been so supportive and I feel really blessed to have her.
Qotd: our baby's first name is V's granddad's middle name.
In other interesting news Vs cousin just had a baby. She turned our to be a girl, but their ultrasound tech had predicted a boy. This has me nervous!
A little late, but not a whole lot to update. I have my first OB appt. tomorrow and I'm very nervous/excited. I've been feeling "better" over the last few days, maybe a week and it's made me nervous, but still gagging all the time, so I choose to believe that everything is fine. We will be going forward with the NT scan and hope to get that scheduled soon since I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow - I think my ticker is off by a day as well. I definitely just look chunky to the world, but S and I can definitely see a change in my body in general and I look forward to feeling better and able to eat more well-rounded and get more exercise in. Also, we started taking belly shots this weekend - exciting!
QOTD: If we have a boy, we will definitely have the middle name Joseph, after S's dad who passed away about 15 years ago. I am in the process of legally changing my last name to hers, so that we can all have the same last name. In TN, that's how we have to do it. I am actually quite attached to my last name, but my sister named her little boy our last name last year, (huge bummer) so it's out for us. We have a few names for each sex picked out and we continue to add and take away from the list. We realize we've got some time.
Thanks Clairmeij! I needed that. I feel much better today.
Can't believe your little guy is wiggling around already. Pregnancy goes SOOO fast. Enjoy!

14 weeks, 5 days. Still nauseated most of the time and taking Zofran per your suggestions last week to help.
I can't tell if this big round belly is bloating, fat from lack of exercise over the past few months, or baby probably all of the above, and I keep looking for pics of 14 week bumps to compare.
QOTD: My wife just legally changed her middle name to her last name and her last name to mine so baby and parents will have the same last name. BTW, I cried at the DMV bc the lady acted like she wouldn't accept the DP certificate even though it is listed in the website and made us wait for 40 minutes while she called the main office in Sacramento to check. All is well though and wifey has new SS card and license on way.
