If you really want the prizes to be useful/used, I'd avoid "unique". What's unique to you may be junk to someone else. I think the PP's idea of B&N gift cards makes sense.

I like the pp's idea of the gift card to Barnes and Noble if you want to stick with a theme.
I don't usually give prizes that fit with a theme at the showers I host. Lately (like the last 6 showers) I've given a few scratch off lottery tickets. The guests loved them so I go that route almost every time. One guest won $400!
We also gave out gift cards to Starbucks as well as movie theater passes. Hated the idea of giving guests prizes/tchotchkes that they would consider junky and potentially useless.

If your guests are all readers you could also do fancy book marks.
