  Why are you trying to break her of it? Just curious, if she was a year I would understand better but at 4 months old, she might just not be ready.

  You could just try and only give the pacifier at night and at least break the day habit.   I know if I took away my 6 month old's pacifier, neither he nor I would ever sleep.  It helps him self-soothe.  Personally, I think it's a little early to try to break the baby of the pacifier habit.  If it helps her sleep and gives her comfort at night, why deny it?

  Thanks for all the input! I guess I didn't realize it was early to stop.  My sister said her daughter stopped using it at 2 months so I kind of freaked out.

  I may get flamed, but I LOVE the pacifier. K uses the MAM ones and only used them to sooth himself back to sleep sometimes and occasionally out of baby boredom. If it helps your daughter sleep better, it's totally worth it. At four months babies still have the need/want to suck, since nursing constantly isn't an option, I think pacifier use is okay.

  Stop listening to your sister. A four month old using a paci is completely fine. My lo is almost 6 months and uses hers mostly in the carseat or at night. Unless she starts using it around the clock, I have no problems letting her use it at night for comfort until she's around a year.

  Her baby may have been like me, not very fond of binkys. I would suck 2 or 3 times and then spit it out. Obviously I don't remember, but I've been told this my whole life. Some babies like pacifiers/nook/binky (whatever you call it lol) and some aren't as interested.

  My son used his paci until he was two. No big deal. He used it in his bed only. Dd won't take one, won't suck her thumb. Only wants the breast. Count your lucky stars. Let that LO have the paci. I'd insert a smiley face here but my phone won't allow it
