When I went into labor, I was vomiting and had diarrhea (sorry if TMI). Then contractions were just tightening and then pain that wrapped around my lower back and radiated down my groin/thighs (I was having back back labor).
I woke up in the middle of the night like normal to go to the bathroom. I had what felt like period cramps/poop cramps. Couldn't really tell. Actually had some mild diarrhea and when I went back to bed noticed that there was a pattern to the cramping. They progressed from there.
They felt just like braxton hicks for hours until they started coming 2-3 minutes apart, then a few of them were more uncomfortable. I didn't think I was really in labor until I was checked and I was 6 cm.
With DS ALL of mine were in my hips and back, so it felt like everything there tightening up which was generally painful and I KNEW they were contractions. But I had them nearly every evening after doing the deed (doctor prescribed method of getting baby moving haha) for about a week until they finally got to the point of timeable and not going away enough for me to go to L&D and I was then in fact in labor.
Mine started off as period like cramps that gradually continued to get worse.
This...but know that's just the warm up...when they knocked my socks off/took my breathe away is when they started being productive. If I had known better what to expect, I would have tried harder to sleep/rest when they were mild because it lasted for 24 hours+ like that...I got way too excited about those early contractions and was sooo exhausted by the time I actually started having the effective ones that I almost couldn't deal.
I started losing my MP a couple of days before labor started, plus I was past my due date, so I knew labor was pretty imminent. My contractions started at like 10am on a Sunday and were just period crampy-type things for a while. Very manageable. They started to get worse about 12-14 hours later. We left for the hospital when I was gripping countertops and gasping from the pain and they were a few min apart. Even then, I only turned out to be about 3cm dilated, but I had to get the GBS meds so I wanted to allow plenty of time.
Hahaha I thought I had to take a poop (I get really bad IBS cramps) for the first hour until I was like ummm wait a second these make a pattern... yeah I was that dumbass.
They started off just being very uncomfortable, like I had really bad IBS cramps then they got stronger and closer together and I felt very nauseous too.
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
