P's milk consumption has dropped by half in the past few weeks. The only way he will drink it is from his bottle. Now, I'm lucky If he drinks a few ounces in the morning and before bed. I've tried all different types of sippy cups and he refuses to drink milk from any of them. Does he no longer like milk? Should I pull the bottle now and give him no other choice?
Re: No longer likes milk?
Not really. He hates cheese but he does like yogurt on occasion. I'm afraid he's not Getting enough dairy.
He's not keen on the straw just yet. Since day one, he's only had organic WCM too. But lately, all he wants is water! I guess I have to get creative and try a few different things. Thanks!!
Try watering down the milk, and see if that helps? And then if he does drink that, you can slowly increase the amount of milk and lessen the water. Or, maybe he'd like a drinkable yogurt smoothie type thing? DH bought some kefir drink that was really thin and yummy, maybe he'd like that? Or, maybe try adding a teeny bit of chocolate syrup to his milk? My one friend did that bc her DD absolutely refused milk when she took the bottle away, and it worked.
I know DD's milk intake has gone down a lot since I switched to sippy for milk, but she eats 5 oz of yogurt a day, so I try not to worry!
Great ideas! I will give them a try. I appreciate it!
Do you serve it in a cup with a straw? That sounds yummy and I'm sure he would love it, but he refuses to drink from a straw.
We've been having similar issues. I've pretty much given in and give her a bottle in the morning and at night as I think it's more important for her to get the milk than give up the bottle. That being said, I'm still experimenting with different sippy cups. She'll drink water out of anything, but not milk or milk products. MH makes smoothies and she loves to take sips out of his cup. In an attempt to make her feel more like she's drinking from a cup but still avoid the mess, I just bought this cup:
https://www.amazon.com/Philips-AVENT-Natural-Drinking-1-Pack/dp/B006GYLL8Y
(sorry, it's not clicky) It has a mechanism in the top that lowers when she turns the cup up and presses her mouth against it which releases the liquid, so it is spill proof. There is no hole with which she needs to line up her mouth, thus she can drink from any area around the top. I haven't tried it yet (just got it today). Hopefully, it works.
She said start with chocolate milk for a few days then mix it back with white milk.. Going 3 fourths chocolate, then a half and 3 fourths white. I think the point is to do it very gradually so they don't notice.
